L’Oréal Steampod: First Impressions

I recently invested in some new hair straighteners which I could also have the option to create tousled waves, upgrading from my old Babyliss Curlers I got some ten years ago. Having seen blogger and Youtuber Lydia Millen’s envious locks I researched what hair curlers she used to achieve her bountiful and glossy curls. I scoured the internet and found out that it was the L’Oréal Steampod which she has used for nearly 2 years now, so it was definitely a product worth having.

So I bought the L’Oréal Steampod, a sleek and sophisticated hair straightener, recognised by it’s cool white colour and large panels, from Look Fantastic over the weekend. Originally retailing at £135, the site was offering a 15% discount and I knew that the deal was not to be missed! So how does the product work and what are my thoughts?

What to know about the product

Attached to the straighteners is the Steampod with a removable pod to pour water into, which then slots back into the Steampod station. It has suction pads on the bottom of the pod to stick to your surface, avoiding any potential spillages. When you turn the straighteners on you have several heat options from 140 to 210 degrees. There is also a comb on the inside of the straighteners ensuring that your hair is left sleeky smooth as you style. There are also arrows on the straightener indicating the best way to direct the straighteners for desired results.

My review

The straighteners are really quite large but I love the wide panels, it allows you to create a voluminous look which is also glossy and healthy looking. I think the comb inside the straighteners is really unique and a great idea, as too often your hair can look frazzled from straightening. However make sure you do brush your hair beforehand with your tangle teezer (or a regular brush), especially if you want to curl your hair to avoid any little tangles getting caught. Although the comb is very fine and will ensure that any knots are combed through, if you want to curl your hair it may pull just a bit. Nonetheless you can create a really glamorous finish. Having only used this product twice (and never really being able to curl my hair with straighteners well beforehand) I managed to achieve this:
