You have seen it on your social media stream at some point, whether you searched for it or not. Maybe you saw it on this years coolest kids taking New York, London and Paris by storm. By “cool kids” I mean our generation’s biggest models, bloggers, YouTuber’s and favorite celebs, and by “it” I mean this Autumn/Winter biggest trends.
Although the fashion community is already looking ahead throughout fashion week across the world, to Spring/Summer 2018 here is a quick summary of my favourite trends to keep you stylish this Autumn, without breaking the bank.
- Dogtooth print/ check patterns
This look is great for taking you from the Office to After-Work-Drinks. This pattern is big this season particularly for blazers and trousers. Invest in a versatile item such as a longline blazer which can be worn both easily at work and on the weekend, to dress up your jeans and slogan t-shirt.
Try: River Island or H&M for some day-to-night versatile jackets.
- Bold red
Red is the statement colour of the season. This is a great and easy way to jazz up an outfit with minimal effort. There are so many different shades of red making an appearance this season from your orange-reds to your burgundy’s. You don’t have to go all out buying an expensive pair of red boots. Start off with a red jumper which can be recycled during the festive Christmas period or with the temperature starting to drop, be prepared and purchase a pair of red leather gloves, adding that splash of colour to your outfit without any fuss.
Try: Pretty Little Thing or Marks and Spencer for a variety of red’s.
- Mustard yellow
This trend is like marmite, you will love it or hate it. Word to the wise though, choose your clothing item carefully and get a friend’s opinion otherwise you may end up looking like the Honey Monster. However this colour will be transitioning into Spring 2018, so for the savvy spender choose an item that can be worn next season also. I would recommend accessories such as a handbag or a scarf to compliment your outfit subtly, or for the bolder folk, go for some slacks or culottes to make a statement.
Try: Asos or New Look for some standout items.
- Leopard print
It wouldn’t be Autumn without this print. This has to be one of my all time favourite A/W looks and there is a reason this is a recurring trend. Heidi Klum’s Esmara collection showcases a leopard print belted coat which is a steal for only £19.99. For those of you looking to make an entrance this is the piece for you.
Try: Lidl to get your hands on that lustful coat.
- Sequins
I knew my blue long sleeved sequin Zara dress circa A/W 2012 would come full circle but that won’t be my only sparkly piece this season. Sequins instantly bring an outfit to life which is why those little party number dresses tend to be reserved for December 31st. However the glitz does not have to be a one time hit wonder in your wardrobe. Take inspiration from the sequin trend and inject some glamour in one simple style piece such as choosing a sequin blazer, a mini clutch for your girl’s night out or even adding some metallic ankle boots to your daytime outfit.
Those sequins will also be leaving a trail of glitter as they join mustard in Spring 2018.
Try: Boohoo for some sequin embellished detail pieces - Over the knee boots
Shoes, shoes and more shoes! Over the knee boots are so verstaile from suede, leather, velvet, high heeled, flat or block heel, this trend is a sure winner for everyone. Team your boots with your favourite skinny jeans for effortless style.
Try: New Look or Public Desire.
- Sock boots
A combination between socks and ankle boots, the sock boot is this season’s biggest trend and genius design. Due to their tight, jersey like material they instantly slim legs whilst also not sacrificing on fashion. The boots can be bought in a chunky heel for those of you who may be a 2 on the high heel skill front, ranging from zero to Victoria Beckham. These boots compliment so many dress length styles; expand your wardrobe by pairing these shoes up with a floral long sleeved maxi dress or a mini skirt with bare legs to show off those beautiful shoes.
Balenciaga’s sock boots has my heart melting but try Zara for an equally chic pair and a happier bank account!
Happy shopping everyone!
